Masons Cottages

The clients who lived in this beautiful quarryman’s cottage loved their house but were running out of space, and with a centre terrace, were understandably concerned that if they built an extension they may end up with another small room, as well as a dark central space within their house. Our solution was to add a new, contemporary extension, open up their downstairs space, and flood it with light from large bifold doors and rooflights angled to throw light deep into the space.

This created a family living dining kitchen space as the hub of the home, which could be opened out to its full width to make the most of the adjacent cottage garden. We also moved the bathroom upstairs and created a small downstairs utility / wc to enhance the functionality of this family home.
